Of course, our office will be glad to assist you in completing the necessary paperwork in obtaining your passport. If you are 15 years of age or under, the cost of a passport is $105, and is good for 5 years. If you are 16 years of age or over, the cost is $135 and is good for 10 years. Exceptions to expiration dates would be where they are limited by the U.S. Department of State to a shorter time period.
The Passport Acceptance Agents' National Service Commitment states: Customers will receive their passports within 4-6 weeks from the receipt of completed applications by Passport Agencies. Those customers who wish to receive their passports sooner may request expedited service. Expedited passports will be processed within about 3 weeks.(Visit http://www.travel.state.gov/ for the most up to date passport information) The use of overnight delivery is highly recommended for all expedited requests. The fee to expedite is an additional $60.00 plus the overnight fees.

| You will need to bring into our office the following items: |
- Completed applications, and we must see you sign the application.
- Certified copy of your birth certificate, hospital certificate not acceptable.
- Previous passport if you have one, which may be used instead of a certified copy of a birth certificate; however, if you are under 16, you must always submit your birth certificate for proof of parental identification.
- Two recent identical photos that meet passport requirements.
- Driver's license or DOT photo I.D. or other acceptable photo I.D. which will be used as an identifying document; a Driver's PERMIT is not acceptable.
- Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by both parents or legal guardian(s)with their appropriate photo identification in order for us to process your application.
- Appropriate fees, with checks or money orders payable to Grundy County Recorder and U.S. Department of State. We do not accept debit or credit cards.
